SECURE YOUR MUSIC WITH AUDIO FINGERPRINTS!
Want to track which radio stations are playing your song? When you register your music with an audio fingerprinting company, you can do just that! Today you can't
afford to depend solely on a radio station or even your radio promoter to report where and when your song was played on a particular station.
So how do you register a song with an audio fingerprinting company? We will tell you step by step how to do just that. There are three main companies that you can register your music with for free in their databases. In our case, we registered our music to see if the fingerprint reports matched our radio promoter's reports. As you probably already know, we found that our radio promoter was falsifying their reports by lying about who was playing the song and how many spins our song received.
Below you will find instructions on how to register your song with all three main fingerprinting companies. We highly recommend registering with all three companies to ensure the largest monitoring coverage.
You can register your songs through Nielsen / BDS by either mail or electronically through Virtual Encode. For instructions on registering your song via Virtual Encode, click here. If you prefer to mail them your song, click here. Nielsen / BDS monitors over 1,100 radio stations and music video channels.
To register your songs through Mediaguide, you will need to send them a physical CD and fill out their submission form to enclose with your shipment. Click here for their mailing address and submission form. Mediaguide monitors over 2,600 stations in 150 of the largest markets nationwide.
You can register your songs through Mediabase by either mail or electronically through e-mail. For instructions on registering your songs through Mediabase, click here. You will also need to send your song information through their New Music Notification form. Mediabase monitors more than 1,800 radio stations nationwide.
